Awesome
You and a friend/guildie can have an full 8 player custmizable pug, Thank you Anet
Great for when Chapter X becomes empty
I still seek out human pugs before using henchmen, same will be with hero's as well.

Oh yes, the rich social experience you get from Guild Wars.... all those 12 year olds running their Arcane Echo Mending warriors while shouting 'lol newbz' and other random gibberish.
Guildies will still be far better than heroes will be, but I'm glad for Heroes - I'm good with henchmen and the heroes will allow me to finish some of those harder missions with Masters in Cantha a little easier.

Awesome news. That will make some of the tough to do missions with hench (or even pugs) a bit easier without having to beg your guildies to help all the time.

Eh, you dont have to use the hero's, you can use them.
If I have to choose between using the normal Tyria henches or take my own heroes then its an easy choice, its equally easy to choose between playing with friends or with heroes.

I understand how you feel. But keep in mind that most players who can hench already do. Most players interested in henching already try to as well...and it doesn't take long to learn.
Think this way: Heroes will only ammount to three character slots for groups. Thats three micro-managed (decent) builds that you can run along with your own. It doesn't discount the other four "standard" henchmen that everyone has come to know over the course of the game, nor does it mean that they are any smarter than those henchmen when it comes to complex decisions.
So...even if the groups you describe always took all the available heroes, you still have four slots that "middle of the road" players or players who like to PuG don't really want filled out by henchies.
@gr3g: yes, they will. Not everyone will like everything you do. its what makes each of us unique

As the chapter number increases, there will be a dilution of the player population in most older chapter mission areas. Allowing the Heros to join the player cross chapters helps to partly solve this problem and is pro-causal move IMO.

Lol, you do realize you just mentioned 3 different professions.
Anyway, ty A-Net. Pretty handy if you still need to do the bonusses in the less crowded mission places. A very nice add, and I will surely make a lot of use of this feature in the near future.

hmm interesting, this will make HA much easier, I'm thinking of 1 person Hway (heroes+henchmen). I hope that you still need at least 4 real people from your guild to start a gvg, otherwise people will be doing 1 person gvg (assuming they count heroes as your guild member).

My earlier post was meant to be taken as sarcastic.
I admit, at first it will be fun to try tyrian and canthan missions with heroes, but they wouldn't be nearly as challenging. Nightfall characters will be able to run through these missions. No challenge = no fun.
It's hard for me to believe Anet will allow heroes into tyria and cantha (yes I saw what Gaile said). The missions and quests would be waaaaay to easy with multiple heroes and would ruin the fun.

Gaile Gray is the ArenaNet Public Relations Manager, if I recall correctly. In other words she's our pipeline to the devs, more or less.

See, the "options are always good" argument has some serious flaws in it. you'll notice that ANet wisely ignores it most of the time, but then floods the press releases with the phrase whenever it's convenient from a PR standpoint!
...In short, there's such a thing as adding options that weaken the core design of your game. For instance, an infinite health code for PvE would wreck the game, no matter how optional. This isn't anywhere near that bad (obviously), but it's going to have long-term reprecussions.

The "Echo Mending" thng is a running joke - the omg uber Mending combined with the mania for echoing anything with a recharge over 10s. And you can pull it off, but you need Arcane Larceny or something on your W/Me!

...It's hardly my fault that I'm the only person around here with any taste.
Do you want a full list of the things I disagree with the majority here about? The reason it appears that people will complain "about just anything" is that 9/10ths of the community complains about the stuff I like and celebrates the things I don't. Effectively, they can't ever please everybody... And it's all my fault.
For the record, the Star Wars prequels were on par with the originals, the Lord of the Rings trilogy was an exercise in incompetent filmmaking compounded by the director's utter incomprehension of the source material, and Aliens is the worst movie of the tetralogy - not the best. Shall I go on?

I have no problem with people complaining within reason and they have substantial proof of why they are complaining.

There my friend is where we disagree...
4,5 and 6 owned 1,2 and 3.
Alien films are watchable once and once only.
LOTR was saved by the scenery but the has nothing against the book.
